Republicans and their often obvious strategies include convincing others (particularly white people mostly white men) that somehow by giving opportunities and telling the truth about Black history is somehow taking away from the white community.
But it isn’t. Glenn Youngkin ‘s victory in Virginia is sort of an example of that given his race-coded strategy of ensuring that suburban voters who rarely leave their homes —- were convinced that things like Critical Race Theory were a very threat to their white existence. A threat that is nonetheless phony, but, GOPers have managed to convince middle class suburban white voters that somehow that threat is real and that it must be stopped by any means necessary. The problem with their argument regarding CRT isn’t that it is a problem in itself but rather it forces white people and their long lines of familial histories to be honest with themselves.
Full blown CRT isn’t even really taught anywhere except law school and in certain colleges. But regardless of where or how it is taught —- white fragility should not be the barrier blocking the truth from being revealed. We no longer ive in a world where we must succumb to the idea that our white neighbor (depending on who they are) is uncomfortable discussing the truth. This isn’t to say that all white people are bad because they’re not, it, is to say that we must acknowledge that their ancestors and some of them even today have played the very part they state never happened.
Some white voters; communities, and people (not all but some let’s be clear here not all white people fall into these categories) believe certain tibdits and the like about history that just aren’t true. The goal of CRT isn’t to make your white child feel bad; unworthy, or in any way problematic. The goal of CRT is to help people understand that the enemy isn’t you or I the enemy is the government. The same government who is now telling you that after centuries of (abuse) that they aimed at Black and Brown people that it pretty much never happened.
This is where CRT begins and pretty much ends. The GOP doesn’t want voters to know that because they’ve weaponised the existence of CRT to the extent that it plays on the fears of those who still live like it is 1951. You know the type. “Pull yourself up by the boot strap” “I don’t want my taxdollars ______” and so on. It’s like an audition for a movie except the role only goes to the most dramatic white person who can play the victim card like no other.
A card that they often say Black and Brown people play when we discuss the problems we’ve faced because of the problems and the racist anger that the government has aimed at our people for generations. Racist anger that white people have been taught and programmed to believe and understand, because, again let’s be totally frank here — if we all got along and lived in a happy world the government wouldn’t be needed outside of collecting taxes and ensuring we don’t end up invaded by a foreign power.
People are being taught by the GOP and Youngkin is an example that we should never get along and should never acknowledge the things that have been done to each other. It is not a state of perpetual victimhood — it is the god damn truth. It is the truth that the American government is responsible for the very crimes; hatred, and the racism that is now plaguing the country today. They allowed it to flourish; they created laws that helped it become reality, the milked it for their own gain and then created a system to make it look like people needed to fight for change.
The GOP knows this and they will continue to play on this well into the next election cycle because their fear is that we will become equal or begin to finally realise that we have been programmed to dislike each other. We have been programmed and conditioned to not like our neighbors; some white people (mostly those who were alive in the previous century and so on) have also been programmed. We are the product of a system that was designed for the ruling elite and their dystopian style views and thoughts.
We live in someone else’s system. The issue now is that system is falling apart because slowy but surely people are waking up to the idea that none of this is real. We have been lied to and misled by the very same people who are supposed to protect our existence. The lies must stop.
They have ot stop for the sake of humanity.
