As fears grow massive COVID outbreak sends Chinese officials scrambling to enact lockdowns

This time Chinese officials may have acted too late to stop what is being described as the worst Chinese COVID outbreak since Wuhan. For those who may not directly remember, Wuhan is the original origin city of the virus although its direct origins within Wuhan are largely unknown.

According to state run media, the outbreak apparently began after hoards of people gathered in a local theme park. Within hours —- officials shut every single person in until they had been tested and quarantined if need be.

The pushback has been swift. Government numbers put the current outbreak at just above 600 with more than 19 of China’s 33 providences reporting spikes in cases. Government officials have acknowledged a serious outbreak of the Delta Variant, though, it is unclear if they’ve moved fast enough to stop it.
