A startling discovery in Africa has revealed the bones of a child who lived some 300,000 years ago

As we’ve always pointed out — there’s a strong chance we are all walking on one big pile of rubble that probably includes human remains. A cave known as the Rising Star Cave just outside of Johannesburg South Africa is making headlines for that reason.

The cave itself is widely considered to be one of the original caves likely used by either early humans or our closest relative. These folks would’ve lived roughly 300,000 years ago but not much is presently understood about the type of people they were.

The two studies that revealed the discovery were first published by PaleoAnthropology. In the study, it is in fact a rare glimpse at a species of human that until 2015 was almost universally unknown to us today.

The bones are believed to have been of a Homo Naledi child. They would’ve been roughly 4-6 years old though it is unclear if they may have looked anything like us.
