⚠ If you’re in Haiti right now you should probably get out while you can

This article is an emergency bulletin regarding the announcement from the U.S State Department about the state of affairs in Haiti. Amid a deepening power struggle in the country, the country is also facing severe fuel shortages among other essential items and resources. The American government has issued a rare warning to citizens in the country to get out now.

Officials note that the local government has been battling with powerful gangs for weeks whom are blocking access to things like fuel resources and outlets. The entire state of affairs is unclear on the ground as the situation is rapidly evolving.

“Widespread fuel shortages may limit essential services in an emergency, including access to banks, money transfers, urgent medical care, internet and telecommunications, and public and private transportation options,” the State Department said in its statement.

Doctors Without Borders began formally rationing care last week as shortages also have severely impacted health services. Only people with critical conditions are being treated as of this time.

WARNING: The State Department has warned that if commercial flights become unavailable it is unclear if officials will be able to get U.S citizens out.
