Teenage boy who stabbed Tessa Majors to death sentenced to 9 years to life

More than a year after her unfortunate murder in Morningside Park — Tessa Majors’ has been handed some justice in her death. According to reports, one of the boys (who we will not name due to the fact that it appears he is a minor though charged as an adult.)

Reports indicate that the judge in the case was upset that he showed no remorse for his actions and ultimately sentenced him to 9 years to life for his role in the killing. The stabbing shocked Harlem at the time and was allegedly over the fact that he and his friends wanted to rob Majors who was minding her business.

Following the ruling, Tessa ‘s father issued this statement according to multiple reports.

Nearly two years later, we still find words inadequate to describe the immeasurable pain, trauma, and suffering that our family has endured since her senseless murder,’ Tessa’s father, an English professor at James Madison University, wrote. ‘Tess was a brilliant student, a voracious reader, a poet and a fledgling journalist. She had big dreams.’
