Here’s what Facebook ‘s whistleblower told the government amid reports FB might be in real trouble this time

Facebook ‘s cold week in hell pretty much could be chalked up to two things: its former project manager and a still questionable data shutdown that caused it to go offline. That project manager Fraunces Haugen has essentially and in more ways than one blown the lid off of many things that Facebook has long sought to keep from the public. Perhaps among her most pressing concerns is that she believes that the platform ultimately failed to stop foreign powers from abusing the platform in itself.

. “I have strong national security concerns about how Facebook operates today,” Haugen said. “They want you to believe this is just part of the deal. I am here today to tell you that’s not true,” she said, per ABC News.

One of the key pressing issues we found most interesting is the fact that Haugens revealed that Facebook knowingly preys on people whom are typically in isolation or isolated from society. Those types of people and that demographic are generally the types most likely to fall prey to misinformation and lies online.

Editors note: We’ll be sharing full guide on how to decipher fact from fiction in the news in the coming weeks as a response to Facebook ‘s wild efforts to sow discord.
