A startling new Buzzfeed News analysis has revealed that over the past 12 years some 28 US lawmakers have gleefully joined via strong ties or simply financially supported the far-right extremist group known as the Oath Keepers. In the investigation, Buzzfeed also found that strong financial ties (some to the tune of millions) also apparently exist between lawmakers and the group.
This perhaps is a far cry from how GOP lawmakers and the like respond to “groups” that are primarily run by Black people. For reasons that are blatantly obvious but we won’t discuss those here — when the Oath Keepers (who are primarily white) commit the things they’ve done it is okay for such to happen according to many of the arguments made by GOP representatives.
Interestingly, Buzzfeed found that the group has extensive support from police officers; sheriffs, court systems, and various lawmakers across the continental United States.
