The national eviction moratorium in America has formally come to an end because American lawmakers just don’t care about their people. According to reports in Washington, a power struggle of sorts remains on the table against the backdrop of an unwilling Congress and big business fighting for their profits.
“We are only hours away from a fully preventable housing crisis,” Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren said Saturday in a floor speech. “We thought that the White House was in charge,” Democratic Rep. Maxine said on CNN, per the AP.
Now that the moratorium has expired evictions can begin in places that don’t have their own local bans (like New York for example which expires closer to September.)
