JUSTICE! Valerie Bacot has been freed following global outcry in the shooting death of her step father turned rapist husband

A stunning change of course for French prosecutors who were thought to be readying life in prison charges against a French woman named Valerie Bacot for shooting her former husband. According to the French court system, Bacot will walk a free woman this weekend after prosecutors affirmed that she herself was also a victim of her step-father’s horrendous decades long abuse.

“I would like to thank the court and all the support that I’ve had from everyone. Now is the time for a new fight for all the other woman and all the mistreatments,” Bacot told journalists outside the courtroom. Valerie had previously admitted to shooting  Daniel Polette in an effort to protect herself and her underage daughters from his abuse. Polette had previously sexually abused and violent.

Bacot is now a free woman and is expected to go home to her four children after pressure from the outside world forced prosecutors to reconsider their demands. They had asked instead for five years with four years suspended, and given she was already locked up for a year, she’s going home indefinitely.
