Against the backdrop of widespread and potentially credible claims that the COVID-19 virus came from a Chinese lab, Facebook is now changing a major tune on its network. Last week, Facebook banned posts on the network that openly claimed that the virus originated from the aforementioned Wuhan lab.

Facebook initially classified the claims as misinformation even as the American government came out to say potentially otherwise.

Politico reports that a statement has been released by Facebook acknowledging that they’re making the change.

“We’re continuing to work with health experts to keep pace with the evolving nature of the pandemic and regularly update our policies as new facts and trends emerge,” the spokesperson said.
