It is the end for one Prince Phillip. Shortly after 10am local time, Buckingham Palace confirmed that the prince has passed away. The Duke, 99, has been arrested recently suffered a series of major health setbacks.

Phillip leaves the world as the royal family is arising on a reckoning of its own. Long held by turbulence within the walls of Buckingham Palace, protocol is expected to happen within days.

Thoughts and condolences have begun to pour in from around the world. Notably, US Vice President Kamala Harris released this statement following his death.

“From his decorated service in the Royal Navy during World War II to his long marriage and partnership with Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, he dedicated himself fully to his family, his country, and the Commonwealth. Whether he was promoting environmentalism or the wellbeing of military families, he brought a profound sense of purpose to all he did,” she said.
