The man who killed Nicki Minaj ‘s Dad in a fatal hit-and-run has been identified

Earlier this week Nicki Minaj ‘s Dad Robert Maraj was abruptly killed in Long Island in a reported and tragic hit-and-run. Now local police are confirming even more information into Maraj ‘s death now that they’ve apparently identified the driver responsible.

According to local police, Charles Polevich, 70, was arrested earlier Wednesday for the hit-and-run that led to Maraj ‘s death. Cops claimed in their announcement that Polevich was in fact aware of what he had did but did not bother to call for help. It is unclear whether or not Polevich may have realized that Maraj was Nicki Minaj’s father.

After a hearing in Nassau County, Polevich was almost immediately released on bail according to available court records. Records show that he has had his license suspended; passport surrendered, and cannot leave the area. Before the crash he was reportedly known to split his time between the area and Guam.

Nassau County Detective Stephen Fitzpatrick confirmed Wednesday that police had quickly moved on their investigation.

“He got out of the car and he looked at the deceased, got into his car, and made the conscious decision to leave instead of dialing 911, instead of calling an ambulance for the man,” Fitzpatrick said. “He went home and secluded the vehicle. He’s well aware of what he did.”
