There’s a big story brewing in Europe and it has now made its way into the U.K amid news of a warning from Europol. According to Europol, criminal authorities have now issued a stark warning to people who may have been offered fake COVID testing certificates for a fee. Police say the certificates pose as authentic (they have the name of a real lab on them) but otherwise they are quite literally fake.
Authorities tell The Daily News that they’ve discovered the certificates being sold through various avenues for as little as £35. This means that in more ways than one people are able to arrive in the U.K, who may be infected, almost entirely undetected avoiding police checkpoints all together.
The test certificates although passable aren’t real at all. We’d like to make that clear they aren’t real. Police have made it clear that people who show up with a fake certificate or are caught with one will be required to quarantine and take an actual test.
Mostly, it appears that the fraudsters are selling the certs from countries like Spain and the Netherlands.
