Chaos erupts in Tacoma Washington after cop runs over bystander in wild use of cruiser: Videos

TACOMA, WASHINGTON — Protesters have moved their sights from Portland to Tacoma after a local cop appears to have unlawfully used his police cruiser as a deadly weapon. Over the weekend, a series of videos appeared online suggesting that there was some sort of street race occurring in Tacoma (although to what extent remains unclear at this time.)

Videos show a series of people gathered near downtown where the event reportedly took place, although, the cops’ story appears to vary differently depending on who you ask. The Tacoma Police Department maintains that the cop in question is under investigation and justice will be served if it is found that he intentionally used his vehicle as a weapon.

As a result of the police overstep, the city has now seen its first of likely many major protests. As Sunday rolled around, protesters descended upon the city like they have in many other places.

The cop has reportedly been identified as Khanh Phan who was set to retire in a mere matter of weeks after nearly 30 years on the local force.
