But this time the arrestee isn’t just anybody. According to what we could find available about him — he is associated with a group called The Three Percenters.
The case against many of the Capitol terrorists seems to point back to one larger pre-made assumption: the majority of them appear to have links to far-right terrorist groups known for their domestic actions and beliefs.
On Tuesday, it was announced via Teller County police that Robert Gieswein, 24, was arrested for his role in the Capitol riots that took place about two weeks ago now. Gieswein, however, isn’t just an ordinary rioter he is believed to further be associated with a dangerous group known for their own domestic terrorism actions.
He stands accused of assaulting a Capitol officer and obstructing a police proceeding during the riots although the charges could vary as things go forth beginning today.
Geiswein according to the arresting document allegedly had an unknown substance that he repeatedly was caught with inside the Capitol and may have used it on officers. It is unclear how many he may have used it on although authorities believe they have substantial evidence to validate that particular claim. Further documents show that he also obstructed a police proceeding as authorities sought to break-up many of the window-breaking vandalism cases that occurred during the riot — some of which Gieswein was caught egging on numerous times.
Who are the Three Percenters?
The 3%’ers are a far-right paramilitary group that according to what we could find believes that the government is trying to strip away the rights of people. The group takes their name from the inaccurate claim that only 3% of troops fought against the British (which couldn’t be anymore false.)
