Rashida Jones is now the first Black woman to helm a major American news organisation

You’ve probably seen her face; her stories, and her journalism — but now she’s got an even larger role in the news media. According to MSNBC, top dog Rashida Jones is now the network’s top President after its current President abruptly announced that he’d be departing.

The network confirmed on Monday that Jones would be taking over the coveted spot. In fact, the move makes her the first Black woman in history to hold such a position in any of the big six media organisations in America. Critics have long praised Jones for her hard-hitting approach to journalism and her ability to handle pressure with grace.

Phil Griffin had been with the network practically since it launced in 1996.
