Facebook Inc could soon be forced to break-up its massive organisation if an antitrust lawsuit is in any way successful. On Wednesday, a lawsuit led by New York City and 47 other states now seeks to force the social media site to divest its business rather than keep it together.
Although that feat may be difficult considering Facebook previously had intentionally formed their businesses together via “cross-platforming” in an effort to make the point of such a lawsuit far more difficult.
NPR reports that even Guam and Washington D.C have joined the lawsuit amid reports that officials have apparently discovered substantial evidence that Facebook abuses in great detail antitrust laws. Some states claim that Facebook intentionally purchases smaller businesses in an effort to quell competition from others.
