Fact checking the traumatic scenes of Diana ‘s eating disorders in S4 of the Crown

Editors note: The Crown Season 4 openly depicts one of the greatest struggles ever to hit the royal family. Throughout much of her troubled relationship with Prince Charles, The Princess of Wales openly suffered from bullemia. Bulimia is a troubling eating disorder characterised as intentionally causing one’s self to throw up food.

TRUTH METRE: Accurate. The Princess of Wales herself openly discussed her struggles with eating disorders famously in a 1995 interview with Martin Bashir of the BBC.

“My husband put his hand on my waistline and said: ‘Oh, a bit chubby here, aren’t we?’ and that triggered off something in me — and the Camilla thing, I was desperate, desperate,” she said at the time.

“By then, the bulimia was appalling, absolutely appalling,” she toldMorton. “Anything I could find I would gobble up and be sick two minutes later.”
