Canadian-American rapper Tory Lanez has been charged in the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion that resulted in her having to get surgery on her foot to remove bullet fragments. According to court documents, Lanez is facing upwards of 22 years in prison if convicted in the case that has attracted significant media attention.
His real name is Daystar Peterson.
He is facing one felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a concealed, loaded, and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said in a statement Thursday.
The news comes after months of slander towards Megan, who, most had claimed was allegedly lying about the violent encounter. At the time of the incident, she admitted to police later on that she had not told them initially because she was afraid she was going to die.
