#JoggingWhileBlack – San Antonio man, 33, wrongfully arrested in case of mistaken identity but cops still did it anyway

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — Disturbing and chilling footage out of San Antonio tonight. According to cell phone footage shared online, 33-year-old Matias Ometu is the latest victim of blatant police overreach as he was innocently minding his business jogging (and he wasn’t even the right person to begin with.)

It’s worth making very well clear that Ometu was not the person they were looking for. According to the video, police were responding to a nearby call about a domestic violence situation except it wasn’t for him. Police still per the video pushed; shoved, and eventually got Matias into the police cruiser.

This is where it gets murky. Police claim that Matias both assaulted one and kicked another but it remains uncertain as to why these cops violated Texas ‘s own penal code. Texas ‘s own penal code states that someone believed to be under arrest or that may be questioned by police is not actually required to give police their information. During the altercation, police demanded that Matias give them his name and birthdate which he refused.
