COVID cases are soaring, college students are scrambling to protect themselves

As America heads back into the classroom this Fall — the battle over whether or not one should wear a mask; adhere to social standards, or even acknowledge the virus all together continues to rage. With Arkansas reporting 22 deaths today (its highest daily record yet) — COVID cases are soaring in spots that previously didn’t have major cases.

The New York Times reports that over the last few months, college campuses have discovered upwards of 17,000 Coronavirus cases (and such is expected to continue to climb.). As a result of those cases — numerous schools including North Carolina State; Drexel University, Michigan State, and at least two others have all ordered classes remote.

Among those is also Stanford which has recently decided to abandon plans for in-person classes. One student at Drexel who asked to only be identified by his initials of S.P told the Daily News “College is being dramatically altered before our very eyes. I don’t know if I will continue college if it goes on like this because this isn’t worth taking out student loans even though I can pay them back.”
