The bizarre story of the NYPD ‘s very criminal arrest of a young homeless trans woman

And by criminal we mean the fact that in an unmarked van and no presence of an apparent reading of said Miranda Rights — the NYPD is in hot-shit this week. This week — videos surfaced online of a young woman by the name of Nikki Stone. The NYPD at the time of the arrest maintained that the arrest was legal; over a warrant, and that Stone had committed several acts of criminal mischief during protests.

(It’s worth noting that those supposed acts apparently involved placing stickers across town according to multiple reports. Some of them having allegedly been on police cameras.)

But the visual of the arrest has upset many New Yorkers who are already visibly upset with New York City ‘s governmental power players. Since the start of the George Floyd protests (and pretty much for the last several years) these types of things are nothing new. In fact, the latest arrest apparently happened at the request of what is called the Warrant Squad (raise your hand if you’ve been in New York City for years and never heard of them.)
