San Francisco will stop releasing mugshots of those arrested to “halt racial stereotyping’

A new monumental decision in San Francisco is making waves online. Per city officials and the police — mugshots of those arrested will no longer be released to the public except under one condition. Officials report that that condition sits solely at whether or not somebody would’ve been reportedly considered a threat to public safety at the time of arrest.

According to the San Francisco PD, the move takes flight immediately.

This means that in the city limits of San Fran — mugshots are now banned from release unless they’re completely in the interest of public safety. Cities like New York and Los Angeles already have such policies in place.
