Here’s what Republicans are offering in their version of the U.S Stimulus Bill

It’s here and it is very Republican to say the least. As we reported on social media and earlier last week, Republicans unveiled their version of the Coronavirus stimulus relief bill that er perhaps actually does close to nothing different than the last time.

The bill offers protections to businesses who may or may not follow the law and their employees end up getting the Coronavirus. This version of the bill would grant immunity from being sued.

In the bill — most things appear to remain the same. Americans per the bill will receive:

  1. Pandemic checks

As they did before, Americans will receive a second pandemic check totalling $1,200 so long they qualify under the already confusing and stringent requirements.

2. American schools will receive funding

Under this version of the proposal, schools will receive upwards of $100B to help with reopening in the fall. However, it has already been made public knowledge that in fact dozens of school districts in America won’t actually be opening as thought. In fact, they’re either switching to a hybrid model or flat out going fully virtual for the sake of students’ and staff’ health.

3. What Americans won’t receive…

In this version of the bill — Republicans as expected have asked that Congress decrease the boosted unemployment by $400 a week. That roughly would bring the enhanced unemployment to an extra $200 a week and that’s about it.

The new version of unemployment benefits would apparently act as what they call a “bridge.” Attempting to in our best confused conscious possible make sense of what that means, it sounds like Republicans want to transition from unemployment to a capped benefit of 70% of prior or previously earned wages.

The bill apparently may be DOA (“Dead On Arrival”) according to multiple reports. Controversial and often problematic Senator Lindsey Graham revealed on Fox News that a bunch of Republicans are already planning to vote no to just about any bill that gets placed up for vote. That comes as they get to go home to their homes; drive their fancy cars, and ultimately feed their families without a worry — meanwhile millions of Americans are on the brink of disaster.
