The plot twist of the century is here and it could lead to the overwhelming decision that Ghislaine Maxwell may not serve a full term in prison. On Friday, lawyers for the disgraced socialite announced that she would be pleading not guilty to the federal charges currently levied against her. In court filings, Maxwell reportedly pleaded not guilty and further claimed that she hadn’t had contact with Epstein in at least the 10 years prior to his actual death.

“Ms. Maxwell vigorously denies the charges, intends to fight them, and is entitled to the presumption of innocence,” her attorneys argued in court documents filed Friday.

Maxwell was famously arrested at a massive New Hampshire compound she secretly bought about a year or so ago using a fictitious LLC.
