For several weeks at this point — most New Yorkers have definitely been kept awake by the insistent sound of war-like fireworks that have lit up quite literally every borough. As a result of the fireworks, some New Yorkers creatively took it upon themselves to protest out of Gracie Mansion —- ready to tell the mayor if they can’t sleep neither can he.
Now according to reports, the mayor has launched or claimed to have launched an illegal fireworks task-force. Holding out hope that such a task force would be of any success considering De Blasio ‘s track record seems like a stretch for most people, but many are holding out hope for a good night’s sleep.
‘Yes, I hear them, too. We’re taking action on illegal fireworks,’ the mayor said on Twitter.
‘We’ll be cracking down on the out-of-state suppliers behind this dangerous public nuisance so we can cut it off at the source’, he reportedly said, and ‘to ensure ‘the ability of our neighbors to get some sleep.’
