Today ‘s TV recommendation is here…. we’re in this quarantine-shit together guys.

At first glance — Netflix ‘s Outer Banks seemed like another soapy teen drama based on nothing more than weirdo-teen-dramatics that are boring after a while. Surrounding the Pogues and the Kooks (off of the very real Outer Banks of North Carolina). I’m going to be the first to admit that A) I had no idea the Outer Banks were a thing and B) I had no idea the sinking of the Royal Merchant ship was an actual shipwreck that appears to have happened in 1641.

A little bit about the very real ship wreck in 1641…..

First things first. Outer Banks is a mostly American twist on a British shipwreck that happened in 1641. Called the Merchant Royal ship it sank off the coast of England that year with a shit-ton of gold aboard and later became known as the El Dorado of the Sea. The UK ‘s Treasury Office has always said if someone were to actually find the very real ship — it remains unknown what would actually happen. The coroner’s office, however, would have to be notified. In Outer Banks the shipwreck “happened” in the 1800 ‘s even though it actually happened hundreds of years before that.

John B and the gang set out on a wild adventure attempting to determine what exactly happened to John ‘s treasure-hunting father. His father, some of which, appeared to be the only local to have ever come so close as to actually find the elusive Royal Merchant treasure. Beliddled by money troubles; lack of a father (on his own), and struggling to survive when the gang realizes that there actually is a treasure — the ultimate of journeys begin.

The wacky group of teens find themselves led down a wild path after stumbling upon a wrecked boat while hanging out in the local marsh. That boat wildly sends them on an even further path after the discovery of a key; hotel room, and notes that led them to the infamous trinket. Little did they know that discovering the watch-trinket would cause burglars to find them; try and kill them, and leave them in a deadly race to find the treasure first.

I don’t want to spoil that much so I’m going to recommend people actually watch it.

Binge-worthy rating: Extreme
