Weekend In Review: Pence might be in isolation; WH in virus chaos, the UK ‘s announcement and more

This is your weekend-end newsletter. This letter is published each Sunday and rounds up the 7 most important tidbits you might’ve missed since Friday.

  1. Earlier this weekend it emerged that Mrs Miller, wife of Stephen Miller and the press sec to Mike Pence tested positive for the Coronavirus.

While that in itself has been confirmed it remains unclear what is going on with Mike Pence. Initial reports out Sunday morning indicated that the VP was headed into isolation after recent contact with his positive-staffer. Reports out by the early morning hours of Monday are now disputing that after Mike Pence appears to have denied that report himself, potentially leaving dozens of workers vulnerable to the virus.

2. Dr Fauci and at least two members of the troubled Coronavirus task force …

Are in quarantine as of Saturday. According to Fauci, he and at least two others were also exposed to Pence ‘s staffer and have chosen to quarantine.

3. Trump ‘s economic advisers….

Are apparently a group of folks who specialise in stating the obvious. When quizzed by media outlets as the new week came into play, at least two of the WH ‘s top economic advisers pretty much said Americans are in for an even further shit-show. Whether or not Republicans care enough to help them remains to be seen.

Washington Post: “The reported numbers are probably going to get worse before they get better,” Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on Fox News Sunday“I think you’re going to have a very, very bad second quarter.” Asked by host Chris Wallace whether the nation’s unemployment rate was “close to 25% at this point, which is Great Depression neighborhood,” Mnuchin replied, “Chris, we could be.”

4. The UK ‘s announcement is here…

As of Monday, Britons are permitted to go about their lives as normal. However, that must be done with their families (how that might be enforced remains unclear.) Lockdown measures regardless will remain in place while reopening plans are in the works, but at least folks can legally go outside and such now.
