This article is part of our series on the Cristo Rey network of schools in which we’ve written about before. Please see our past coverage of students coming forward about abuse at the hands of their leaders; officials, and their principals.

This story is also being covered by our American newspaper.

The American version of this newspaper is running a follow-up tomorrow as we continue to speak to students; obtain statements, and dig. As of Wednesday morning, we’ve got more than 6 statements from students who attend Cristo Rey.

  • Cristo Rey Boston reportedly maintains that such things like in the video you’ll see below never happened.
  • Nia Brown, a teacher well-liked by her students, was placed on administrative leave after speaking up about an unbelievable number of issues that arose within the school including emotional outbursts by teachers assailing students.
  • A Zoom recording obtained by The Daily News appears to show that the school has a wide-ranging number of discrepancies in regards to its own policies, particularly those policies that may be geared towards as they themselves said “low-income students.”
  • A video obtained by The Daily News shows a teacher calling an underage student whom is believed to suffer from documented depression a “a disgrace” before storming out of the room explicitly cursing along her way.
  • This is the second Cristo Rey school we’ve written about. The first, in New Jersey, found that its leading official was allegedly sexually harassing young girls on campus among other things. The school attempted to sweep the allegations under the rug, we refused to remove the video of students themselves telling their stories.

A stunning chain of revelations out of Boston today as the Cristo Rey network of schools has once again found itself in the midst of controversy. On Wednesday morning, a series of videos were leaked online showing a teacher recorded by a student calling them a “disgrace” before hurling numerous explicit curse-words and then storming out of the room.

The student, according to what we’ve learned, is not a troubled student as the school appears to have suggested. Documents obtained in relation to the previous attempted publication of this video show that the school has attempted to brush the situation under the rug, essentially pretending as if it never happened.

Cristo Rey Boston as a result of the discovery of this video and Mrs Brown attempting to speak up on behalf of this video not even including the academic issues — placed Brown on administrative leave. Surprisingly, we were able to actually obtain a copy of a memo from Rosemary Powers confirming such to Mrs Brown that fails to acknowledge that any proper solution had ever actually taken place.

According to Mrs Brown — both Rosemary Powers and Cristo Rey High School Boston have both failed to provide any proper solutions to this particular problem. The student problem doesn’t stop there and also allegedly involves sex; drugs, and unwanted advancements on a female student.

This is Part 2 of our ongoing investigation into the Cristo Rey Network of schools. This article is the first of many in this set about the school in Boston. If you’re a student and have experienced abuse; wrongdoing, or anything of the nature — we’d love to speak to you. [email protected]
