Lorna Breen, a prominent Manhattan ER doctor, took her life because of the toll the Coronavirus had been taking on her

Heartbreaking news in Manhattan today as New York learns of the latest fatality in the fight against the Coronavirus. According to the family of Dr. Lorna Breen, Breen reportedly took her own life on Monday after the enormous toll that treating Coronavirus patients took on her.

She tried to do her job, and it killed her,’’ Dr. Philip Breen told the New York Times of his physician daughter. Been had previously complained to her father of how difficult it was to watch patients die, some often before they even would even leave the ambulance. Breen ‘s family confirmed to The New York Times that she had no active history of mental illness.

“She was truly in the trenches on the front line,’’ Philip Breen told the Times.

“Make sure she’s praised as a hero,’’ he added. “She’s a casualty just as much as anyone else who has died.’’
