Lawmakers want to intentionally infect Americans to hopefully speed up creating a vaccine

But that tidbit in itself likely won’t sit well with those whom are already fearful of anything to do with the government and medicine. According to a group of about 35 lawmakers, some lawmakers are expressing their support for a scientific trial that would see a controlled group of Americans intentionally infected with COVID-19.

The trial, per the Hill, would see people either given a drug or a placebo of said drug. The opposing idea would be for trial hosts to gather respondents after they’ve already contracted the virus and then give them the vaccine.

And then there is the least popular option which has already reportedly drawn widespread criticism. Some scientists; researchers, and the same lawmakers want to intentionally infect the volunteered-group of patients with the virus. Nature.com reports that the group in question has now grown to more than 1,500 test subjects. It is virtually unknown as to whether such a trial would actually even remotely be successful, for a virus that as several medical experts have already said remains so-very-much-unknown.

It appears that the massive trial would be done through 1DaySooner.
