Instagram is joining the ranks of websites helping people cope in ways that are easier than others. On Wednesday, the company announced that accounts will be memorialised at a faster pace due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Users were already able to request such by a form, although now it’ll be done at a far faster pace.
Instagram ‘s parent company Facebook has had this feature since at least 2015. This leaves the likes of Twitter.com the only major social media company that doesn’t actively have such a function. Preserving social media profiles, in a sense is a new form of an obituary.
