Following Trump ‘s bizarre briefing, Lysol issues emergency warning

Following Trump ‘s eyebrow raising and dutifully shocking briefing, disinfectant brands are racing to tell the public: please don’t try this at home. During the now widely mocked briefing, Trump made a number of claims about disinfectants and UV lights (you’re reading that right) — that mostly saw Trump claim the two would cure COVID-19.

That claim has not been proven and is considered widely scientifically dangerous.

“As a global leader in health and hygiene products, we must be clear that under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body (through injection, ingestion or any other route),” said the statement from Reckitt Benckiser, per the AP.

The briefing took a turn for the crazy after a man identified as Bryan spoke during the briefing. Rev.com has a transcript of his words, er, which appear to suggest that UV lights “if strong enough” can kill the virus as allegedly can isopropyl alcohol and bleach.

Moments after Bryan spoke.. Trump chimed in..

“Supposedly when we hit the body with a tremendous, whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light, and I think you said that hasn’t been checked, but you’re going to test it. And then I said supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. And I think you said you’re going to test that too. Sounds interesting, right? And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that so that you’re going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me.”
