Alert: Broadway usher in NYC who worked two shows tests positive for the novel Coronavirus

This is a public health alert for travellers; tourists, and even locals who may frequent Broadway in Manhattan. A theatre usher who worked two shows towards the beginning of March has tested positive for the novel Coronavirus.

Broadway officials confirmed the news in a statement delivered to the media this morning. It comes on the heels of the Mayor ‘s office teetering on closing Broadway entirely and several other parts of the city. The employee reportedly worked the booth for early March showings of plays like Who Killed Virginia Wolfe.

“Last evening, we were notified that a part-time employee of both organizations has tested positively for COVID-19,” reads a joint statement from the Shubert and Nederlander organizations, the theatres’ respective operators.

“Immediately upon learning of the positive test, both organizations began taking every step necessary to ensure the safety of our audiences, performers, crew, and building staff.”
