Joe Biden just made another huge campaign gaffe

Because while gun violence is a monstrous problem in America — those stats he spewed about the number of deaths from said gun violence seem a little off. During Tuesday night’s debate which was almost as if it was a Bravo reality show, Biden made the jaw-dropping claim that more than 150m Americans have died from GV since 2007.

That number appears to be deeply inflated and no where near close. But let’s be clear far more Americans have died from gun violence than they should have. This is not an attempt to downplay the mass problem of gun violence in America.

The Center for American Progress notes that between 2007 and 2017 there were roughly 373,633 firearm deaths in America.

In full, these are the remarks being widely mocked online.

Imagine if I stood here and said we give immunity to drug companies, we give immunity to tobacco companies. That has caused carnage on our streets,’ Biden said during the Democratic debate in South Carolina Tuesday night.

‘150 million people have been killed since 2007 when Bernie voted to exempt the gun manufacturers from liability, more than all the wars, including Vietnam from that point on.’
