Trump loses appeal to restart federal executions: SCOTUS

In modern humanity, the death penalty as a whole is not only a controversial topic it is also a hard one to swallow. But for the Supreme Court, it appears that the topic is both as they’ve rejected an attempt by the Trump Administration to resume federal executions.

According to reports, the Supreme Court left in place a ban on resuming federal executions — something that the U.S hasn’t actually done in almost 17 years.

The first of what would’ve been at least 4 fed executions were scheduled for Monday and again on Friday. Lawyers for the accused and would-be executed hailed the decision — although the fight might not be over yet.

“The courts have made clear that the government cannot rush executions in order to evade judicial review of the legality and constitutionality of its new execution procedure,” said Shawn Nolan in phone calls to numerous outlets including the AP.
