To the shock of nobody a financially irresponsible Catholic bishop has been revealed once again. In a bombshell report published Monday, a W. Virginia bishop was found to have seriously misused finances (among other things) even after it was revealed that he had sexually assaulted a number of young priests.
The report revealed that the bishop, identified as Michael J. Blansfield spent more than $4.6M renovating his then massive mansion that he outfited with huge sinks; a bar, and other trendy stuff. The problem? It was done for pretty much his own joyous entertainment even after reports of his abuse surfaced, and then, the church sold the property for less than $1.3m.
The allegations surfaced in August, and per reports, the Wheeling Residence was soon sold afterwards. A Washington Post article published on Sunday took a deep-dive look into the lavish mansion believed to be nearly 10,000 sq feet in size.
