The Human Simulation Hypothesis Explained

Over the past several years I’ve had sort of an awakening to the world in which we live.  I’ve come to terms with the idea that we are likely the product of something extraordinary that we have yet to figure out, and, that some people on this earth probably already know that.   The older I’ve gotten I’ve noticed that my interests and peers have certainly changed. The basis of my renewed interest in the truth about humans and our history.

One of those interests is the idea and the thought wondering where humans actually come from and whether or not we are part of some extraordinary project that we aren’t supposed to know about.  I remember at one point in life that I thought this very subject was moot, and, it was virtually impossible to be anything other than the product of Mom-and-Dad.

But in 2019, and with all the secrets that are kept from us, I can’t help but wonder whether or not Nick Bostrum ‘s hypothesis that we are all human simulations may actually or at least in part be true.  Nick Bostrum is a decorated Swedish philosopher perhaps best known for his eye-catching and at least sometimes probable hypothesises about everything from humans to superintelligence.

Because I found this so interesting I thought I’d share the video rather than write about it.

The hypothesis that I found most intriguing was as you guessed it the simulation hypothesis.  Bostrum argues that such a simulation would inevitably feed itself based on three possible scenarios.

  1. The fraction of human-level civilizations that reach a posthuman stage is very close to zero;
  2. The fraction of posthuman civilizations that are interested in running ancestor-simulations is very close to zero;
  3. The fraction of all people with our kind of experiences that are living in a simulation is very close to one.
