Fashion Nova has been sued by Versace for ripping off its designs

Here’s an ugly court battle nobody saw coming. According to copyright lawsuit documents that appeared online hours ago, fashion retailer Fashion Nova has been sued by the House of Versace. Docs show that Versace is claiming that FN ripped off a number of its designs — including Jennifer Lopez ‘s legendary 2000 Chiffon dress.

‘As a result of Fashion Nova’s conduct, Versace has suffered irreparable harm to its Versace Trade Dresses, reputation and goodwill, for which it has no adequate remedy at law, unless and until’ the court orders the smaller company to stop, the suit claims.

‘Moreover, Fashion Nova uses other unauthorized search engine optimization tactics and/or social media spamming so that Fashion Nova webpages show up at or near the top of relevant search results and misdirect consumers searching for Versace Apparel,’ it adds.

Versace claims that not only did FN rip off that dress — but they proceeded to then “create a number of similar items” that they then passed off on her own.
