THE DAILY NEWS has obtained footage and stunning photographs of an NYPD SUV that flipped over at the intersection of 1974 Utica Avenue in Brooklyn New York. We have been unable to confirm the condition of the officer driving, and, the opposing driver and rider in the opposite vehicle.
UPDATE: Police reports obtained show both officers sustained injuries mostly to the neck. None of which are life threatening.
Both vehicles appear to be totalled at this time. Our hearts go out to those involved in the crash. We have not been able to identify the officer as of this writing.
Witnesses however told two of our nighttime reporters that the officer was seen texting and on his phone while driving through the intersection. “He was definitely distracted and ran that light” one witness told us over the phone as we received the footage from our team.
