Boris Johnson fails to call general election: AM News

Parliament/Reuters

Boris Johnson is having one difficult Thursday morning, waking up from scores of humiliating defeats within his own government.

Prime Minister Johnson has once again failed his own party. Yesterday, Johnson suffered a number of humiliating defeats as PM, most of which surrounded the idea that he has not only lost his majority he has also failed to call a snap election. Johnson had previously swore to call a snap election had MP ‘s retaken control — a feat he had hoped would eventually force their own hand on his No-Deal Brexit approach.

286 MP ‘s voted for the motion while 56 rejected it.

This is the third major defeat for Johnson in less than about two days.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has made it abundantly clear that he will not back an election if a bill blocking a No-Deal Brexit isn’t signed into law. That alone has made it near impossible for No. 10 to continue on its warpath towards its deadline for Brexit.

Conservative peers, however, are still hobbing it through the night hoping to stop the Hilary Ben ‘s bill from making it further through the House of Lords. Rogue MP ‘s are hoping that by Friday morning her bill will receive the expected royal assent.
