Lori Loughlin is probably the most hated woman in America right now, mostly, because she is the highest of profile among those accused of illegally bribing college admins to get their kids into elite schools. On Tuesday, Loughlin and hubby Mossimo turned up at their latest court hearing that could see them behind bars for more than 40 years.
The couple appeared in Boston for a Rule 44 hearing — which in less legal dorky terms pretty much means that they’re waiving their right to separate their trials. This goes toe-to-toe with the fact that Loughlin has long wanted to continue to put on a United Front for the legal system to see, despite collectively being charged with mail and wire fraud.
According to reports, Loughlin and Mossimo acknowledged to the judge in the case (following stern warnings about the risks of shared representation) that they understood such risks. Those risks greatly lower their chance of winning an appeal, and, likely could greatly tarnish what is left of their reputations.
Fun fact: Mossimo and Loughlin are accused of bribing USC administrators with $500,000 through the aid of William “Rick” Singer. Singer at the time was running a massive college-entry exam scam where he had others taking exams for the actual student named. The goal? Loughlin stopped at nothing to get her socialite daughters into USC as row girls although they had never actually participated in the sport.
