Drugmaker found liable for opioid crisis in Oklahoma

TULSA, OKLAHOMA — One of the states’ in the U.S hit hard by the decades long opioid crisis, uh, has finally delivered on a long standing promise to seek swift justice. According to The Daily Beast,a judge has found drugmaker Johnson and Johnson responsible for (on their part) the opioid crisis that has rocked the state for several years.

Reports  note that the drugmaker will be responsible for $572million in fines.   The reprecussions of the decision could have potentially catastrophic changes ahead for the pharma industry.  That industry in itself has been dogged by complaints that for decades, they’ve put profit before people and their health .

Johnson and Johnson argued that it could not be held liable for the drug crisis because it supplied “perfectly legal” ingredients and the like.  Johnson and Johnson is expected to appeal the decision.
