South Carolina — Troubling developments in South Carolina this morning as the Daily News has learned a 12th transgender woman has been found fatally shot to death. According to North Charleston police, Denalie Berries Stuckey, 29, was found fatally shot on Tuesday afternoon.

“The North Charleston Police Department recognizes, respects, and protects the rights of all citizens regardless of race, religion, gender, or beliefs, and will continue working to ensure all citizens are treated fairly and courteously.” reads a statement given to Buzzfeed News confirming the investigation into her death.

Initially, it was reported that this is not being investigated as a hate crime. However, that remains subject to change according to authorities.
