WayfairWayfair (think the furniture and home goods company) has found itself in the midst of major controversy after reports revealed they were aiding the government in supplying beds to detention centers.

Wayfair has largely been accused of aiding abetting a government operated human rights violation campaign tartgeting migrant children and their families.

It emerged today that the #Wayfairwalkout is actually a thing. According to Buzzfeed,  the company’s workers are planning a large-scale walkout in protest of the sales to the government.

Buzzfeed reports that the company bought upwards of $200,000 worth of products and made about $86,000 in profits from their contract itself.   It also appears that the company has fullfilled orders for multiple detention centers throughout Texas — notably the location in Carizzo.

Wayfair itself meanwhile has released a defiant statement.

“As a retailer, it is standard practice to fulfill orders for all customers and we believe it is our business to sell to any customer who is acting within the laws of the countries within which we operate,” the letter reads. “This does not indicate support for the opinions or actions of the groups or individuals who purchase from us.”
