Debate Night gets off to rowdy start for hungry Democrats

The first U.S debates for Democrats hoping to secure the Presidential nomination are here. And as we are actively engaging with you guys on social media, we’ve rounded up some of the best lines already.

*This page will be updated as we pick-up some of the most stand out lines and claims from the debates.

Julian Castro: I want to make it no longer illegal to cross the U.S border. [Specifically Castro mentioned he wanted to make crossing the border no longer illegal but rather just a civil violation.]

Bill De Blasio: “The 1% did these things to you. Not immigrants nor migrants, the 1%”. De Blasio is the mayor of New York City — the largest U.S city and the city with the most striking wealth gap.

Elizabeth Warren:  Gun violence in this country is a national health emergency. We need to treat this like a virus because it is killing our children.

Secretary Castro:  Common sense reform is the answer.   Parents are tired of their children going to school to learn math; reading, and how to basically survive an active shooter situation.

Tim Ryan: We have to grow our way out of climate change.  We have a huge perception problem within the Democratic party on issues like this.  We’ve lost all connection.
