This Rhode Island school district tried to shame kids for lunch money, the internet wasn’t having it [Top Story]

FOODCHILDREN SHOULD BE ABLE TO EAT DURING SCHOOL is the sentiment of the day and the resounding sentiment heard across the internet.    Yesterday,  the Warwick School District in Rhode Island announced that “beginning Monday we will be serving cold sandwiches to students who owe lunch money debt”.

That particular line of their bizarre policy announcement resulted in almost instant backlash.     District officials initially claimed that the police about cold food was to “ensure that we are being fiscally responsible”.   However,  the police announcement made no mention of the fact that it is public knowledge that students struggle at school if they don’t eat well.

As of Thursday night, it appears that the school district has reversed their policy change and students will be given hot-foods.
