“Some Rapes Are Consensual”

In this week’s We wish were joking but this is a very real article and the contents aren’t a joke — a Missouri Republican lawmaker confirmed to the world that he believes “rapes are consensual”.

Not fucking joke here guys. According to Buzzfeed News, Republican Barry Hovis apparently made his case for an after-8-week abortion ban that included the line “some rapes are consensual.”

“Most of my rapes were not the gentleman jumping out of the bushes that nobody had ever met. That was one or two times out of 100. Most of them were date rapes or consensual rapes,” Hovis said
