Disrupting the man false claims about Alabama’s Abortion ban [For The Moment]

Alabama1

We’ve been following a pretty bizarre chain of claims made in regards to the abortion bill in Alabama (and now the one in Missouri). But first let’s tackle the larger of the two — that essentially outlaws abortions all together.

View the bill here.

  1. Clinics are very much still open

Right now, Alabama can’t legally immediately initiate the law. Federal law still states that abortions can be performed. Governor Kay Ivey has already previously admitted that enforcing the law “might just be hard”. It’s also worth noting that for this ban to even take flight, it, must actually reach the Supreme Court.

While it appears to be set for that course, it,will face significant battles throughout the legal system. The chances of Roe v Wade being overturned are about 50/50.

2. You can still get it while you can…

While there are quite a few months (and possibly even more than a year) before this ever becomes a thing — Planned Parenthood is still out there performing abortions. Until the ban is actually enforced — cliincs like PP will remain open.   You can still go in for your appointments; meetings, and other stuff.

3.  While slightly confusing….

The legislation appears to say that women will not be criminally held liable for having an abortion, but then, the way it was explaied by Gov Ivey and her Republicanndimwits it gets pretty confusing. Nobody really understands or truly knows what the intended punishment is here. But for all intensive purposes — this line directly from the legislation should speak exponential volumes.

4. Doctors can get in trouble..

But only after the law goes into effect.

5.  Punishment misinformation

The legislation is pretty confusing and we’re pretty sure it was designed that way.  While it does appear to say that women  will be punished — it actually says that doctors can face 15 to 99 years in prison for performing an abortion per the bill itself.
