The United Kingdom certainly didn’t think this one through. According to reports, the UK is set to implement a law on 15 July — that is understandably going to have unprecedented consequences for adult internet users.
While they’ve been in the works for years, uh, this is the first time they’ve actually came to be. The change? Porn sites and those that host adult content will have to Run age checks in order to be viewed in homes across the UK.
This is the first known law in any one singular country.
Obviously there are already very real privacy concerns. Experts have widely condemned the idea that residents would be required to submit government issued ID/passports among other information — ultimately risking a leak of said database containing their information.
